About Square Dance

The type of square dance that Ann leads truly is for everyone. She is steeped in the world of Community Square Dance (which is different than Modern Western Square Dance clubs where you generally need to know all the moves before coming to a dance). In this realm, the whole point is to have some good old-fashioned fun while dancing to some good, old-time music. It is welcoming, friendly, and inclusive. No experience necessary! Ann teaches each dance before calling it, and chooses dances that fit the level of the crowd. She has a knack for making her dances a fun, successful experience for everyone.

Ann works with many musicians and can come with a full old-time string band--fiddle, banjo, guitar, upright bass--or some combination of such, depending on your budget. There is nothing like square dancing to live music!

To experience a community square dance in person, please come to the Monday Night Square Dance in Minneapolis. It is every 1st and 3rd Monday at the Eagles Club #34, 2507 E. 25th St, Minneapolis, MN 55406 ($8). Callers for this dance are rotating--and they are all great! To find out the next time Ann is calling this dance, please send a note via the contact page.

And remember:

"Hand over hand, heel over heel,

the more you dance, the better you feel!"
